Position: Weatherization Technician (5 individuals)
Starts: Mid-January 2018
The Upgrade To Save Weatherization Technician works as a part of a 4 to 5 person weatherization crew performing a variety of tasks to improve the energy efficiency of Roanoke Electric Cooperative Upgrade To Save program participants homes. Technicians will perform direct weatherization services, including blowing attic insulation, caulking around leaky windows and doors (and other areas throughout home where air escapes), sealing leaky duct systems, installing low flow shower heads, water heater wraps, smart thermostats, exchanging light bulbs, performing minor building repairs, tracking inventory etc. This position requires working in tight spaces and/or dark spaces to include attics and crawl spaces. Being willing and able to work in a variety of weather conditions to include extreme heat and cold and being willing and able to climb up and down a ladder is a must. Technicians must be willing and able to pass drug tests and background checks, have and maintain a professional appearance (uniforms work shirts/jackets provided), be willing and able to work 40 hours per week and work well independently and in a team environment. Starting wage is between $12 and $15 per hour based on prior experience and health benefits will be available. Annual performance incentives for individuals and the team will be provided based on professionalism, timeliness and quality of work. All crew members must be willing and able to legally drive company vehicle(s). Paid on the job training will be provided with a tentative start date in mid-January of 2018.
- High school or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to/from warehouse (Rich Square)
- The use of personal electronic devices and attachments (i.e. cell phones/head phones/ear buds etc) are strictly prohibited and smoking/Vaping is only allowed outdoors, at least 100 feet away from participants’ homes, and during scheduled breaks.
- May earn the opportunity to become Building Performance Institute (BPI) and/or Home Energy Rater (HERS) certified (based on individual and team performance)
